One of P’s personal favorite creations, Saturdaynitelive is heavy dose of nostalgia filtered through the critical (and hilarious) lens of Paten Locke.
Backed by Paten’s coarsely chopped version of the show’s classic theme song, Dillon syncs clips of a variety of episodes of Saturday Night Live over the years, paired with the comically scathing lyrics of P Locke addressing SNL’s lack of melanated comics…amongst other things.
The final track on Dance on My Grave, ‘Saturdaynitelive’ is also a party as much as it is discourse. At first, Paten thought it might have been a tad offensive toward a certain group of people, (ha!) but after playing it out (and often) at his DJ gigs, he realized his caucasian friends loved it and there was no need to fear.
