In early 2024 Jason, Pat, Earl and Jon got together to re-record selected tracks from the albums Laminated Skies (2022) and Away Back In (2023). The result is Wayward Skies.
After the, sell out, show at the Jazz Cafe, London April 2023 they all realised how much they enjoyed playing live together, and how much the songs benefited from being played live.
They felt a real connection to the crowd and were surprised by how many people thought their music was made by using samples. After several conversations it was agreed a re-record would happen in a well loved studio in Washington DC and five songs were chosen from the last two albums.
This collection of recordings really shows the beating heart of Raw Poetic, as a band and a group of friends. Friends that have known each other, and worked together for two decades. The trials and tribulations, ups and down they have shared.
This EP is prelude to a full length album due at the start of 2025. A much more ‘live’ sounding album. The group want their fans to know, see and hear that they are a band, foremost. Yes, they’re based in Hip Hop, but they play their instruments in and on allsorts of genres and stages.
