Phoenix da Icefire & Husky Brown – Shake Things Up b?/?w Dark Rainbow Light (Tone Spliff Remix)
In May 2020, London rapper Phoenix da Icefire and producer Husky Brown released the phenomenal “Panacea”, nominated as ‘Best Independent Album” at that year’s AIM Awards.
Husky’s unique blend of hip hop, electronica, dub, bass, soul and r&b provided the perfect soundtrack for Phoenix’s social commentary addressing climate change, mental health, racism, equal opportunities, inner city life and physical well being, all delivered with a refreshing underlying message of hope while simultaneously being uncannily prescient given events of the past two years.
The Covid pandemic resulted in the originally planned album launch being postponed, however at long last the public will have the opportunity to see this masterpiece performed live for the first time at Brixton Jamm on Friday November 12th.
This new AA side single by the duo has been released to mark the event. The Schifrin-esque soundtrack of “Shake Things Up” fuels a barrage of high octane bars unleashed from a fully loaded verbal armoury, while a sublime blend of choice beats and turntablism laces the specially commissioned remix of “Dark Rainbow Light” courtesy of prolific US producer and DJ Tone Spliff whose multiple credits include work with Recognize Ali, King Magnetic, Ruste Juxx, Melly-Mel, Vic Monroe and many more.
