Yaya Bey – September 13 [audio/video]
Released today, “september 13th†is the second single taken from Yaya Bey’s forthcoming release ‘The Things I Can’t Take With Me’—out April 9th—and comes alongside a new video. “September 13th is the day I realized the relationship I fought so hard for would never be the same.â€
The new track follows the previously released single & video ‘fxck it then’—which was supported by the likes of Pitchfork, FADER, HotNewHipHop, Clash, FACT, Crack Magazine, Mixmag and many more—and comes in the wake of Bey’s poignant essay “Why we owe the hood everything… I’ll get to that eventuallyâ€

“The September 13th video is inspired really by how the song made me feel when I would listen to it in my bedroom. I kept imaging poses which felt like a photoshoot theme would go best with the song. We added a love interest to give it the story it needed. The song is stripped down and really is just about a feeling and the video needed to be the same way.”
