Imperial & K.I.N.E.T.I.K. – Those Were The Days
For their latest single; the unlikely duo, Imperial and K.I.N.E.T.I.K., link up with wish list collaborator, BREIS and time travel back to the days when it was safe to play outside. Can it be that it was all so simple then? The answer is yes and all three scroll through their memories of old like Teletext.
More than just another back in the day record, Those Were The Days, is a loving ode to the curiosity and innocence of yesteryear. Imperial digs deep into his they reminisce over you bag and connects soothing, uplifting and spirited vibrations together like Lego pieces. K.I.N.E.T.I.K. catches sepia-tinged flashbacks in the first verse and paints a detailed picture with his coin-operated flow by name dropping everything from pin rolls to Blockbuster Video late fees. Even Richie Cunningham gets a big up. Oh, happy days, indeed. One the second verse, BREIS tells a witty wordplay laden story of how a technical mishap with a camera caused chaos after his wide-eyed first encounter with a pre-Miseducation Lauryn Hill. Even though these collaborators are showing their age, their youthful enthusiasm and anachronistic experience shine through. This is the missing link between analogue adolescence and digital adulthood.
