Potatohead People “Morning Sun” Ft. Nanna B
Earlier this year, we got the first glimpse at the long-awaited return of Vancouver production duo Potatohead People. With two year’s having passed since their critically acclaimed 2015 debut album, Big Luxury, the pair comprised of Nick Wisdom and Astrological, revealed “Quest For Love-” the first track off their upcoming album Nick & Astro’s Guide To The Galaxy due May 11, 2018 via Bastard Jazz.
With a signature sound that can be described as a J Dilla-esque hip-hop / future electronic feel, “Quest For Love” brought us back into the ultra-smooth hip-hop influenced world of Potatohead, and reminded us why Soulection, Nightmares on Wax, Pomo, Exmag, Big Boi, Phife Dawg, and more, are all fervent supporters of the duo. Today, the next cut of the album is ready to be revealed, this time on a collaboration with Danish singer Nanna B on a stunning single “Morning Sun.”
A shimmering piece of easy-listening, “Morning Sun” showcases a more down tempo production from Potatohead People. Deeply rooted in soul, “Morning Sun’s” boom-bap rhythms and funk infused guitar melodies set an ideal foundation for Anderson Paak. and MNDGSN collaborator Nanna B’s serene vocals. Setting the tone for the remainder of the album, fans can expect 10 more brand new tracks from the project, including collaborations with Illa J, K-Maxx, Kapok, Moka Only, and Trian Kayhatu.
If this is your first introduction to Potatohead People, the Canadian duo boast a number of noteworthy accolades thanks to a series of EP’s, including their landmark “Kosmichemusik” EP. Potatohead People’s productions quickly made their way to artists like Illa J who tapped the duo to produce his now critically acclaimed self-titled album, as well as producers like Kaytranada who co-produced Illa J’s “Strippers” with the pair.
