Gark Mavigan – Picture Day ft. Detroit Children’s Choir (Prod. Dr. Dundiff) [audio]
Stockton-raised, SF-based emcee Gark Mavigan is back in the cut with “Picture Day,” a nostalgic, College Dropout-esque record featuring the Detroit Children’s Choir and Joni Fuller, a world-class violinist/cellist. The track is the second single off ‘GOOD CHOICES,’ Gark’s upcoming album that will donate 100% of proceeds to local non-profits in Stockton and SF.
“Picture Day,” produced by Jakarta Records standout Dr. Dundiff, takes a look back at school picture days — rocking the fresh fit, the fly honey in first period, using the complimentary white background ’cause you can’t afford the red/blue/green options — and how the pictures encapsulate a moment in time that’s never forgotten. The track takes a more cathartic turn in the second verse as Gark addresses those who’ve passed on and how they would want him to live life to the fullest: “Life’s a one-shot take, you’re supposed to flex / When you strike that pose, you better pose a threat.”
