Moniquea “Famous” (Prod. by XL Middleton) [video]

This past June, LA funktress, Moniquea, released her album “Blackwavefunk” via MoFunk Records. The album was mostly produced by MoFunk label boss, XL Middleton, with additional production from Eddy Funkster and Turquoise Summers.

In “Blackwavefunk” Moniquea continues to expand upon the Boogie/Modern-Soul sound of her debut album, while venturing into a new sound inspired by New Wave and Synth Pop sounds of the 80s. Hence the title “Blackwavefunk.”

Today, check out the brand new music video for the song “Famous” which was produced by XL Middleton. Directed by Famous Lee, the video is reminiscent of 80s MTV area music videos w/ a strong aesthetic and musical influence of New Wave.

Moniquea states:
“The song poses the statement to a people who live their lives doing the bare minimum with an expectation to receive a maximum return. And, to those who are in a muddle for reasons they don’t fully understand.”
