Sum x Black Thought – Black Friday ft. Longbeard [audio]
Multi-coastal lyricist Sum presents “Black Friday”, his new single featuring Black Thought of The Roots. Produced by Los Angeles beatsmith Longbeard, “Black Friday” will appear on Whatever Doesn’t Kill Me Better Keep Running, his forthcoming new project set to feature the late Ikey Owens, Yamin Semali, Chris Merritt, and productions from Cazal Organizm, DK The Punisher and P.U.D.G.E.
Claiming roots in North Carolina, Atlanta, New York and Chicago, Sum currently resides in Los Angeles where he heads The Milky Way, a collective that specializes in a sound best described as post-millennial funk. Sum’s Dragon Vol. 1 album featured Malkovich, Needlz, Dibia$e and Computer Jay. He recently launched label and music supervision company, Precious Metals Creative, and the Digital Action Committee, which he describes as “a liquid collective of creatives and concerned citizens, born out of the outrage and heartbreak caused by savage slaying of citizens by police, focused on realistic solutions and the tools that help create them.” Regarding his new single, Sum says “There’s not much to be said about being able to rap on a track with the great Black Thought. He’s a pioneer, and I’m glad he’s finally starting to get more widespread recognition as one of the nastiest to ever do it. My guy Longbeard did his thing on the music, he’s a part of the extended Milky Way tribe and you’ll hear more from him sooner than later.”
