Gabriel Garzón-Montano Performs On NPR Tiny Desk [video]

In the midst of a national spring tour, Brooklyn-born singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Gabriel Garzón-Montano made a stop at NPR’s Tiny Desk to perform tracks from his critically acclaimed projects Jardín and Bishouné: Alma del Huila. The performance is available now to watch and share:

Jardín is a ten track “genre-flaunting gem” that was recorded at Waterfront Studios in Hudson, NY with analog guru Henry Hirsch. Gabriel tracked drums, bass, guitar, piano, and synthesizers direct to 2″ tape, adding percussion, digital programming, and several layers of his own vocals to create a lush sonic environment. He sings of the struggles and uncertainties of the many-layered game that is America today, from the specific doubt and double consciousness of the first-generation hustle to the universal challenges of love, legacy, and exploring the maze of one’s own mind.

Following a sold-out UK/EU tour and eight-show run at SXSW that “dripped with old-school soul,” Gabriel is set to wrap his North American tour on June 29th. Tickets for the remaining dates are available here.
