Allday – Speeding [album]

Massive cult artist, Allday arrives today with his highly anticipated sophomore LP, “Speeding” premiering exclusively on Mass Appeal.

Speaking to Mass Appeal, Allday, aka Tom Gaynor reminisced on making the record – “I finally had the opportunity to record vocals properly on this album, so we went to good studios and spent days on every song,” he says. “All the features are friends. It’s the end of a particular era in my life and the songs feel like tying up loose ends.”

Featuring cameos and collaborations from fellow Aussie artists Nyne, Mallrat and Japanese Wallpaper, “Speeding” marks the highly anticipated release following his 2015 mixtape, “Soft Grunge Love Rap” and 2014 debut album, “Startup Cult” which charted at number 3 on the ARIA charts, just behind Ed Sheeran and Sia.

Having dropped out of art school to focus on music full time, Allday managed to live off stolen microwave rice sachets for months on end, all the while developing a massive cult following for his low-key and introspective aesthetic. Startup Cult saw Allday embark on several sold out tour across the country, playing 3000 capacity rooms and major festivals, and a lap of the United States supporting Mod Sun. His tracks have gone on to rack up millions of streams across the likes of Soundcloud and Spotify, with over 50 million digital streams in total, and earning the nod of approval from key Aussie tastemaker, triple j.

With his 2015 mixtape, “Soft Grunge Love Rap” Allday further cemented his status. His quick-witted lyrics and youthful narratives caught the attention of major US press like Rolling Stone, Sway in the Morning, NYLON, AV Club, Indie Shuffle, Paper Mag, Billboard and more.

“Speeding” is a staggering achievement for the 26 year old artist – from slow burning contemplative tracks, to bittersweet tales of love and a flourish or two of upbeat party ready tracks, the record showcases just how much he has evolved in the last few years.
