Lorine Chia x Romero Mosely – When Morning Comes [EP]
In the covering of night, darkness is embraced, but when morning comes, it’s a new day.
After releasing individual projects respectively and working together on Mosley’s “Next To The Moon,†Cameroon-born vocalist Mosley Lorine Chia and Cleveland-born, LA-based producer Romero Mosley join forces on When Morning Comes, a six-track collaborative journey through life, love and hardship. Layering Chia’s signature bluesy rasp atop Mosley’s velvet-smooth production, When Morning Comes tackles the interpersonal conflicts within us all—from relationships, to financial struggles, to finding purpose, and everywhere in between. A direct parallel to life’s rhythmic ebbs and flows, everywhe Chia’s whimsical, yet textured vocals lightly dance in between Mosley’s live instrumentation, which includes jazz percussion, live horns, lead and bass guitars, amongst other additions. Led by the first single, “A Little While,†When Morning Comes also includes Dungeon Family’s Big Rube as the sole album guest feature. Created over the span of a year and drawing on the influences of Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu and J Dilla, When Morning Comes provides a modern, upbeat take on soul music, though still freely floating past pr genre confines. Evidenced through the album’s cover art, When Morning Comes is intended as a therapy session for listeners to learn to trust life’s process and heal through good music.
