The UK duo of Yussef Dayes and Kamaal Williams (aka Henry Wu) are Yussef Kamaal, who will be releasing their album “Black Focus” on Nov 4th via Gilles Peterson’s Brownswood Recordings imprint.

The album is inspired by 70s jazz/fusion while continuing the spirit of London’s music scene which is greatly influenced by jungle, grime, broken beat and hip hop. The songs on the album were mostly unplanned, inspired from their live performance at Boiler Room, which were developed upon a loose template and continued to flow naturally rather than constrict themselves with dedicated arrangements. The album was engineered by Malcolm Catto of the Heliocentrics.

Today, check out the single “Lowrider” which is taken from the upcoming album. Jeff Weiss from Passion of the Weiss premiered the song earlier who cleverly notices this project as a “UK analogue to the work that Thundercat, Kamasi Washington and Brainfeeder are doing on the West Coast.” You can read his entire write-up here: http://www.passionweiss.com/2016/10/11/yussef-kamaal-lowrider/
