Nia Andrews – Sue [audio]
Los Angeles’s own, Nia Andrews, will release her “From Here†EP tomorrow, August 26th. The 4-song EP was co-produced by Feist producer, Mocky.
Hailing from Inglewood, California, she’s also the daughter of famed music teacher, Reggie Andrews, who’s students include Kamasi Washington, Thundercat, Terrace Martin, Tyrese and members of The Internet. Nia still reminisces on her earliest memories, sitting on the floor as a kid watching The Pharcyde making music in the living room her dad rented out, where various emcees, dancers and beat makers would come to create and hang-out. After paying her dues and self teaching herself how to make music, her 2013 debut EP landed her an opening slot on Corinne Bailey Rae’s West Coast US tour and a residency at the Ace Hotel in Los Angeles.
Today, check out the final single from her upcoming EP for the song “Sue.†The song was produced by herself and you can also check out a great interview with Saint Heron that provides more perspective into her artistry: http://saintheron.com/featured/interview-nia-andrews-is-the-mesmerizing-voice-youve-been-missing-with-new-single-inside-your-head/
Finally, Nia Andrews will be performing in LA at The Ford Theatres on Sunday, September 18th. The show entitled “Common Culture: Across the Water†will also feature performances from Chloe x Halle, Mark de Clive-Lowe, Jungle Fire, Brit Manor and others. Part of the show proceeds will be going to local organizations. For more info and tickets visit: http://www.commoncultureshow.com
