Corey King – IF [audio]

IF_Cover-01

Multi-insrumentalist and singer-songwriter, Corey King, has been cutting teeth with some of today’s best musicians, successfully coexisting in various musical worlds. He’s worked and performed with Esperanza Spalding, Gil-Scott Heron, Mos Def, Bilal, Wyclef Jean, Mary J. Blige, Dr. Lonnie Smith, DJ Premier and many others. His upcoming album “Lashes” will be released on September 9th via Ropeadope records.

“Lashes” was inspired after a short stay in Berlin in 2013. The dance culture there instilled the idea of creating music that would make people move. While on tour with Esperanza Spalding, King started experimenting with both electronic and acoustic configurations to pass time after sound checks and late nights in hotels. The record began in winter of 2014 in Brooklyn and the idea was to take sequences out of his computer and meld them with a live band.

Today, check out the second single from the upcoming album for the track “If.” The song was written and produced by Corey King while singing the vocals and programming, and the song also features bass from Alan Hampton and drums by Jamire Williams.
