In 2014, Denmark’s triple-threat singer/songwriter/producer Fjer was draped in old-timey housemaid attire and performing a conceptual stage show in support of her criminally slept-on second EP, Beautiful Home. Since then she’s been steadily working on her upcoming untitled debut album, but now she’s back with a brand new look (ie. herself) and a brand new one-off single to whet your appetites for some Scandinavian-style electro-soul.

“Her Turn” was written by Fjer and for the first time, relinquishes production duties to the capable ears of Lennart Rasmussen (formerly of Kill J). The song’s steely futuristic production serves as the perfect sound bed for Fjer’s sultry vocals dealing with the dual themes of embittered lovers and the fickle nature of the public eye. With limited opportunities for female artists, the question of “I know that it’s her turn, when will it be mine?” is a strong one. Is this a love song? Is it social commentary?
