Fokis “What’s My Name” [video]

In 2002 New York City emcee/producer Fokis released a 12″ single called “What’s My Name” produced by Charlemagne (Jay-Z, Mary J Blige, Natural Elements). The single did really well in the underground scene then 3 years later it was added to Fokis’ debut album “More Than One Way”. Originally released in 2005, the album features Kool G Rap, Killah Priest, Rahsaan Patterson, Hell Razah & more. No music videos were ever done for any tracks off that album… Until now, 11 years later. Set to release his sophomore album sometime this summer (once he gets under 200lbs) called “Underground With Commercial Appeal” The lower east side native decided to go back to the future and whip up a visual for his decade old song.

“After losing over 85lbs by doing crossfit & eating healthy I got re-inspired to create music and be an artist again, this time doing it my way and having fun along the way. I figured since I cant drop my new album till I get below 200lbs I should go back to my last album and bring people up to speed with my history and I feel like the video does a good job at that.” – Fokis. The video has various cameos in it of artists such as Sean Price, Pusha T, Kanye West, G-Unit, Guru, DJ Premier and more, in the form of pictures and old footage. Their is limited edition vinyl still available for purchase HERE, that was pressed in 2002 as well as limited edition CDs of the More Than One Way album HERE. You can also listen to the single/album on Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music and all other digital retail outlets.
