2.4.16. We lost a hero, pioneer, and special voice of music. Maurice White, founder of the best band in the land ‘Earth Wind & Fire’ passed away at the age of 74. His music inspires me daily. My father would play Earth Wind & Fire records over and over and over and over again. The instrumentation, the uplifting lyrics, the outfits, the afros, everything about EWF spoke to an Afrocentric excellence you rarely find in music today.

As a producer I’ve sampled their music from time to time, most of which has never been released or heard by many. I’ve often toyed around with the idea of doing a full tape, here’s just a taste of what ‘The Elements’ have in store. I hope you enjoy it as much as I’ve enjoyed their music. RIP Maurice.
