Beatspoke – Never Enough (original) [audio]
More than five years in the making The Journey Is The Destination, the second album from Barcelona / Seattle duo Beatspoke (aka producer Josh Fontan and vocalist Sarah Gessler) is finally to be released in spring 2016 on BBE. With their debut offering gaining support and plaudits from the tastemaker’s tastemaker Gilles Peterson, they clearly didn’t want to rush the follow up. Never Enough is the first taste from their new crop of songs: a tender, minimalist electronic masterpiece with spine-tingling which that provide a powerful commentary on modern society.
This is the original version from the single package released January 2016
The first remix comes from ‘The Russian Percussion’, better known as London production powerhouse DJ Vadim. Best described as reggae-influenced hip hop, his reworking lightens the mood, adding heavy drums, skanking guitars and a jaunty flute line. Ultratalented Japanese electronic artist Anchorsong rounds off the package with a bitter-sweet, lo-fi rendition, introducing wistful pianos and strings, making the stunning vocals appear even more plaintive.
