Abhi The Nomad – Where Are My Friends [EP]

Abhi The Nomad’s new EP is his sophomore release and garners a new eclectic indie, hip-hop alternative sound that takes influence from the likes of Beck, Arctic Monkeys, Queens of the Stone Age, Earl Sweatshirt, Aesop Rock and El-P.

Following his previous debut, “Beginning”, WAMF is a 7 track EP that tells the journey of a lone wanderer, and his accounts with awkward social events, fake internet fame, suicide and self-esteem.

The song “Download God” is a prime example of Abhi’s lyrical capabilities as he runs through his experience of walking into a dim-lit room, personified as the internet. The second track “Soul Safety Administration” takes a glance into what it means to go to heaven, and tells the listener to join the SSA, take their own life and escape their current worries through suicide. “Anti-matter” is another well-themed track that condemns conspiracy theories and misinformed ideologies alike.

Though harboring some pretty dark and broody tones and lyrical content, the EP thrives off funky and groovy rhythmic patterns and upbeat melodies – and does not take time or effort to warm up to the listener.
