Mike Mictlan “CLAPP’D” [video]

Mike Mictlan premieres the new video for “CLAPP’D” today. The video, directed by Kron, was filmed in the streets of Minneapolis and focuses on the harsh realities of gun violence in America. Mictlan explains the concept of the video by saying, “I wrote this song way before Ferguson, way before Freddie Gray. I could feel the climate rising in our country with every video of police brutality posted on the Internet. I wrote this song for my friend Abdulle Elmi, gunned down execution-style in the streets of Toronto. But the biggest surprise was playing “CLAPP’D” on tour with Doomtree and finding out that I also wrote this song for the people I performed it to in every city who needed it more than me. I will continue to write these songs, not as a reaction but as a need. Stop The Violence.” The track is off of the Doomtree rapper’s most recent album, HELLA FRREAL, out now on Doomtree Records.

HELLA FRREAL features Mike’s rapid-fire lyrics over larger-than-life production from Cecil Otter, RedVelvet Beats, 2% Muck, 1990, Mike Frey, JuanL, and Lazerbeak, with guests Greg Grease, Ceschi, and Aby Wolf all along for the ride.

Mike will be joining the rest of the Doomtree crew this Fall for several national festival dates, along with their Off In The Deep Tour taking place on the East and West Coasts. Doomtree will also make a special stop at home for the first ever Doomtree Zoo all-day concert, being held 10/3 in St. Paul, MN at CHS Field. Doomtree’s All Hands is available now through Doomtree Records. Mike will also be making a solo appearance with Sims in Minneapolis this Saturday at the Pizza Luce Block Party
