“Supreme Sonacy Vol. 1,” a joint compilation between Blue Note Records / REVIVE, will be released on August 7th. The highly-anticipated debut compilation marries the genre’s most compelling talents with the spirit of rebellion, to translate the universal language of the tradition into a wholly triumphant and transcendent new sound. Featuring an all-star cast of some of today’s leading musicians, Blue Note Records, with their partnership with REVIVE, continues to support and push Jazz’s boundaries while placing a finger on the pulse of yet another sonic rebellion to ensure the survival of quality music. While REVIVE looks to the past for inspiration, Blue Note and current present Don Was, look to REVIVE for the future.

The album features contributions from Igmar Thomas, Big Yuki, Ray Angry, Brandee Younger, Chris Potter, Casey Benjamin, Ben Williams, Marc Cary, Jeff Tain Watts and others.

Today, check out the second single from “Supreme Sonacy Vol. 1” for the track “Let’s Wait A While” featuring Marcus Strickland and Christie Dashiell with help from Christian Sands (keys), Keyon Harold (trumpet), Kyle Miles (bass), and Charles Haynes (drums). “Let’s Wait A While” is a cover of Janet Jackson’s original from her 1986 “Control” album. This new version features Christie Dashiell on vocals and Marcus Strickland on tenor sax and bass clarinet.
