Red Pill – Ten Year Party [video]
Detroit artist Red Pill is celebrating the release of his new album, Look What This World Did To Us, with a Ten Year Party. Lamenting, but not conceding to life’s trials and tribulations, Red Pill’s view is surprisingly optimistic – whether it’s doused in irony or not. The new video, directed by Jay Brown, shows the song as a juxtaposition of the grim and jovial, grief and celebration.
Now if I gotta work for the man for the rest of my life
I’ll probably kill myself
I’d rather live for ten years the way that I want
Instead of seventy for someone else
So let me drink my wine
Let me smoke my stuff
Let me write my songs
One day I’ll be okayRed Pill’s penchant for emotional delivery and masterful control has been hailed as a breath of fresh air. The new album is an irreverant autobiography, a loving memoir disguised as an LP.
