Less than two months ago, the world experienced the musical genius of MC Lyte’s first Billboard charting single in eleven years: the ground-breaking urban hit “Dear John,” featuring Common and 10 Beats. “Dear John” is the anthem for #EducateOURMen, which is the signature scholarship initiative of MC Lyte’s Hip Hop Sisters Foundation, which has presented two $100,000 university scholarships during the Soul Train Music Awards Red Carpet Pre-Show each year since the organization’s founding. MC Lyte stated that this year, the foundation will present dozens of scholarships earmarked to send men of color to HBCU’s, and she quickly followed up on that commitment with this past weekend’s red carpet announcement.

After recent premieres with Billboard, Vibe and Complex, MC Lyte is back with “Ball,” her high energy single that infuses a crazy lyrical style, the multi-talented actor/rapper/dancer Lil Mama and a catchy hook belted by talented singer and producer AV.

Similar, to Lyte’s recent single release, “Ball” fuels an international campaign highlighting her philanthropic efforts aimed towards redefining hip hop’s global influence; she will commence upon a cross country holiday media tour promoting her recent releases, her upcoming album, her health and beauty tips and her foundation’s EducateOurMen initiative (www.educateourmen.info).

Lyte’s upcoming LP, her first studio album in eleven years, is slated to be released in the first quarter of 2015.
