John Robinson – Last Stop on the 4 Train (Jackie McLean) Part 1 [video]
What do you get when Emcee/Visionary, John Robinson; Jazz Enthusiast/Radio DJ, Thomas Simmons and Jazz Vocalist, T.C. III (son of Jazz legends Trudy Pitts and Bill “Mr. C” Carney) ride the 4 train to the last stop in the Bronx? The documented journey of a visit to Woodlawn Cemetery; the final resting place of legendary Jazz Masters Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Coleman Hawkins, Jackie McLean, Max Roach, Milt Jackson, Lionel Hampton and more. Their mission to this National Historic Landmark serves up an educational experience for classic Jazz lovers all the way to Hip-Hop crate-diggers.
Last Stop on the 4 Train unfolds through conversations and stories led by the three music gurus in their own right as they visit the grave sites of these Masters. Thomas Simmons, John Robinson and T.C. III celebrate the greats and share invaluable music history with a genuine enthusiasm that proves infectious.
This film is an ode to the power of music folklore as told by lovers of music and culture. Rooted in this love, it aims to bridge the gap between the now multiple generations of Hip-Hop and the Jazz music interlaced through many of their classic tracks. By sharing the accomplishments and catalogs of key virtuosos, Last Stop on the 4 Train highlights cross-genre commonalities of the music journey as a whole.
