Low Leaf “Roots” Mini-Documentary [video]
Today we’re happy to share “Roots” a mini-documentary on Filipina-American musician/artist/producer, Low Leaf. Beautifully directed, produced and edited by Alejandro Talens, the mini-doc sheds light on Low Leaf’s musical background in classical piano, coming to terms with her own racial/ethnic identity, and the influences behind her latest album, “AKASHAALAY.”
The mini-doc also follows Low Leaf to her homeland, The Philippines, to document some of her live shows while also visiting the Kalinga Tribe in the mountains. During her visit in the mountains, Low Leaf was able to meet and receive a tattoo from Whang Od, the oldest living traditional tattoo artist who the BBC recently just covered: http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-27539510
