Dumplings én China (formerly Petty The God) is a Crown Heights, Brooklyn artist who has been gaining attention with his recently released Star Anise and Rare Emojis EPs. “I just want people to be able to smell and taste the music I make,” he explains, in regards to the new alias. His smooth flow and elastic voice fit perfectly over the brand of production he favors, full of dirty, distorted drums and pretty, ambient melodies.

With Zebra Cakes, Dumplings én China serves up a feast prepared from the finest ingredients a stoned trip to the bodega has to offer. The THNDRTHF directed video finds the chef in his kitchen, zoning out amidst the clutter in his living space. While he takes a moment to escape from it, the audience is invited into his world of drab walls and vibrantly colored filth. Simple but effective, this one-take video brings the ICDMAW produced single to life and is the perfect introduction to Dumplings’ upcoming Zebra Cakes EP, out June 17th.
