Awon & Dephlow “Real Hip Hop” (Prod. Phoniks) [audio]
Awon, Phoniks & Dephlow released the first single, “Real Hip Hop”, off their upcoming album titled DephAcation. The album will be their first release together since their critically acclaimed 2013 Return To The Golden Era, and it signifies a return back to the classic boom-bap hip hop from the previous project.
The string focused Phoniks production carries this track with it’s full sound and clean cuts, while Awon & Dephlow lay out a stinging critique on the current state of hip hop. They take their time in flexing their lyrical might, and while they don’t call out any specific artists, they are definitely intolerant of cookie-cutter emcees. Talk about leading by example.
DephAcation will drop digitally through Bandcamp on May 6th and on vinyl through Sergent Records shortly after. Pre-order links for vinyl will be available soon and supplies will be limited.
