SeanDammit “The Last Saturday Night” [audio]
Buildings crumble to the ground, the fumes from nearby fires permeate the midnight sky, and rioters flood the streets as our modern society rapidly approaches its final hours before total destruction. These are the visuals that are conjured up by “The Last Saturday Night,” the first single off of producer/multi-instrumentalist SeanDammit’s debut instrumental EP, Smart Phone Dumb Talk. Anchored by a dirty breakbeat, grinding guitars, and a haunting synth melody, the song is a hard-hitting sensory attack and serves as the perfect introduction to Smart Phone Dumb Talk, which will be available digitally on July 30.
Based out of Orlando, FL, SeanDammit has crafted the stimulating score to the dystopian sci-fi film Hollywood is scared to make, channeling the cinematic detail of rjd2, the hip hop-informed grit of El-P, and the riff-heavy buoyancy of Ratatat. While ‘Smart Phone Dumb Talk’ marks the first album released under the SeanDammit moniker, it is far from the first project that he has had his hands in. A long-time collaborator of BK hip hop producer Optiks, SeanDammit has co-produced or contributed to songs for Kap Kallous, Psalm One, Jon Connor, as well as songs by IMAKEMADBEATS, MidaZ the Beast, and Solillaquists of Sound, as well as co-writing/co-producing the entirety of his previous group, In Curses.
