Rabbi Darkside – Prospect Avenue [album stream]
Say Word Entertainment is proud to announce the international release of the new solo album from Brooklyn’s Rabbi Darkside: “Prospect Avenue.” After 2 years in the studio and on the heels of a successful Kickstarter campaign that far exceeded its $10,000 goal, Say Word is bringing the new record to the world digitally, on CD and Double LP Vinyl. Rabbi D’s unique style, combining the personal, poetic, political and the punchline, has found its groove over a musical canvas ranging from jazzy to boom bap to bluesrock to electrosoul to funkybreaks, while remaining unmistakably Hip Hop. This album finally captures the energy and electricity of his globally renowned live show, assisted by some of NYC’s finest studio musicians and an outstanding roster of guest spots. Features include performances from Homeboy Sandman (Stones Throw), DJ Rob Swift (X-Ecutioners), IllSpokinn (Freestyle Mondays), Brother Hamm, Caits Meissner, Duv, Mariella, Grace Galu Kalambay, and Core Rhythm. Production comes courtesy of Da Beatminerz (Black Moon/Smif-n-Wessun), Nickodemus (Wonderwheel Records/Turntables on the Hudson), Mista Mayday (Connecticut), Sid Suna (Paris, FR), dudz & Hydra (Lyon, FR), and Dennis Jagut (Hamburg, DE).

From the Artist:
“Prospect Avenue†is my new solo album, finished after 2 years of studio work, and ready for international release. These are my stories of teaching, learning and evolving in new millennium Brooklyn: an homage to New York City offered in a time of distress, a love letter laced with co-dependence, a tribute to social and civil servants, a prayer for students and teachers. It is written from the hallways of our public schools, from the stages of shuttered venues, from the expanses of bridges traversed on bicycle, from the bandstand and the cypher. From the front stoop of the house on 18th Street, where I’ve resided for 13 years, I’ve documented the city changing while growing within its confines; journeying to touch distant points on the globe, always returning, culminating with a ride on the R train to Prospect Avenue.
