8 Miles To Moenart has literally brought Tall Black Guy full circle. Detroit was where he started making music, and it’s to his hometown he returns to draw inspiration for his debut album. Taking in low-slung hip hop, downtempo house and jazz-tinged street soul, it’s a record of rare focus. Largely instrumental, he’s also added some choice collabs with Ozay Moore (formerly known as Othello) and Diggs Duke, bringing their own unique styles to the melting pot. This record encapsulates the musical heritage of Detroit, through the looking glass of Tall Black Guy’s own signature sound.
