Sacramento Knoxx – The Rise of the Turtle [album]

“Music is medicine, do everything with Love, from a Dream to Reality.

In the daily hustle of creating music, film, art and building for your community, time and space seems to move with or against you. I chose to move with it after I had to have a self realization of the importance of being through my creations, friends, family, community and Love. It did not come easy for my spirit, from past traumas handed down through my Anishinabe-Ojibwe side of the family with settler colonialism, the daily struggles of growing up in Southwest Detroit, and the self hatred I began to cultivate for myself every time I phucked something up, I had to Rise Up and didn’t know how, especially being self destructive and not coherently thinking.

The inner struggles of one self can be destructive if not balanced correctly, I feared of being nobody or not giving my fullest potential back to my 7 generations and neglected to honor the ones before me.

So I started talking to myself… And with the medicines of Turtle Island I turned my fears into Loves, and got swole from self belief and critical thinking from the power of The Universe we’re all apart of. Giving thanks to every walks of life.

Slowly I began to dream vividly again after I asked the Creator to take away the nightmares from previous depressions and anxiety attacks I would lose the fight to. Nightmare or beautiful, messages were being sent, powerful ones, once again.

Dreams of songs coming from East of Turtle Island, waking up with the sunrise, spider webs, SunFlowerz & floral patterns, the power & beauty of our hands, making hip hop exist in Clark Park with drum beats, Lions, indigenous geometrical designs, a blue orb, the infinity of stars, the vibrating unique reverb from the strike of the native Drum, new alliances & relationships, and a turtle my mother would hand me before she actually did the day before my new chapter in NYC.

All those dreams to me just mean we come from Love and Her creations are beautifully divine.

Before I left to the East of Turtle Island, I lost all my equipment, hard drives with a $hit load of beats and recordings, and my tools to create my artistry. They’re in the form they we’re bounced down to for drafts, recording, or demos, they’re in their rawest form. This batch of beats survived the wreckage and like a Phoenix from the ashes, they exist on Mother Earth to share,

This is a sonic story of a spirit Rising Up.”

I exist.
