Maimouna Youssef “Meet Me In Brazil” [video]
Baltimore singer, emcee, songwriter and poet Maimouna Youssef presents the Brian “B.Kyle” Atkins-directed music video for “Meet Me In Brazil”, the second single from her album The Blooming. The “Brazil” clip features actor Lamman Rucker, best known for his roles in Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married? Youssef received a Grammy nomination for her contribution on The Roots’ hit “Don’t Feel Right†in 2007 for best rap song, and made her big screen debut on Dave Chappelle’s Block Party. She has swapped musical licks with such artists as Nas, Dead Prez, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu and Mos Def. The Jazzy Jeff-produced “I Got A Man” (watch the music video) was the first single from The Blooming, which received the Washington Post and Washington City Paper’s votes for “Top 5 Best Albums Released In 2011”. In 2011 Youssef was named “Artist of The Year†by non-profit organization One Common Unity for her efforts to empower underserved youth. She is planning a European tour for early 2013.
