BUG – Mechanical Soul **EP**

After releasing his debut single last year on Jus Like Music Records, gaining airplay from Gilles Peterson and Benji B along the way, London’s BUG is back with his Mechanical Soul EP. BUG, is a keyboard player, songwriter and producer. Under the moniker, BUG, he creates an experimental, instrumentally grounded style of music with a compositional approach. The BUG sound encompasses the finer elements of hip-hop and neo-soul, yet the real beauty is in the delivery. Think the smooth richness of the Dam-Funk vibe, the solid construction of a Dilla beat, the electronic wizardry of Flying Lotus and the soulful melodies of Lonnie Liston Smith’s jazz.

Mechanical Soul is a six-track EP beautifully encompassing that modern funk sound with its roots in the 80s. Much lauded by popular music site MOOVMNT, along with peers such as Dam-Funk, B. Bravo, Onra, BUG is at the forefront of the funk/soul west-coast hip-hop production sound and can count the likes of Debruit, Ty, Eric Lau, Om Unit, Paul Pre, Jay Scarlett, Lefto and Danny Drive Thru as fans. At just over 20 minutes long, Mechanical Soul is a deep and soulful affair with a sharp focus on sick instrumentation.
