Jimmy Valentime is releasing his first official single titled “Understand” produced by Statik Selektah. “Understand” takes a more serious tone than jimmy’s previous mixtape records. “The way I would describe my rap style is if Common Sense was raised by The Joker. I am a really passionate person, but my sense humor has always been my best weapon. Like if you Google me, you’ll see more of the wild & crazy guy stuff, because that’s what has attracted an audience and been spread around. I am attempting to present a more balanced picture of myself with my new music”.

“Understand” is the first original record that Jimmy is releasing. Jimmy has nothing but praise for the popular producer Statik Selektah. “Statik was really down to earth and was willing to listen to my feedback on how I wanted the beat. I really appreciated that considering all the huge stars that have rhymed on his production. I remember getting out of school and going to Chinatown to buy Empire Strikes Back and The Prophecy when I was younger. Then a few years later I was in his studio picking a beat, it was a bit surreal for me.”

Jimmy Valentime has been working diligently on his craft and his hard work is starting to pay off. Jimmy valentime was asked to peform at Fat Beats during they last day of business and was subsequently feature on a news story about the closing by NBC. He was rumored to be a potential XXL Freshman and was heavily featured on DJ Tony Rivera Freshmen Tryouts Mixtape that was released last fall, Freshmen tryouts was subsequently featured on over a dozen websites.

Jimmy will be revealing the album title in a few weeks, the album will feature production from Statik Selektah and Ski Beatz. The album will be available for free download in May. “I really don’t want people to call it a mixtape. It’s going to be a full length LP with all original tracks. I want to show people what I can do on my own before I partner or do business with anybody.” In addition, Jimmy valentime is also preparing a mixtape entitled, On My Way which will be released in late march. On My Way is going to feature a lot of New York talent, I have met at industry events and open mics. I have always felt it’s important to be a fan first and support the artist you believe in. I want to give other rappers that I think have skill a shot.
