Photos + Audio: Arthur Verocai Slide Show
Timeless is the brainchild of two photographers, a promoter, and the marketing director of VTech. For the Arthur Verocai concert – JRocc and Madlib dug deep into their crates to provide a diverse and often times radical look at Brasilian music from the time that Arthur recorded his solo record. As a backdrop to this B+ and Eric Coleman made this slide show.
The images are from a project in the works by Mochilla. It has as yet no name but it is about the music and culture of the North East of Brasil. There in the city of Recife in the state of Pernambuco at Carnival time in 2008 is where and when these images were made. The North East is at the root of most culture in Brasil. Samba finds it root there in Maracatu. Capoeira is from Bahia which is in the North East. In many ways the root of rapping in the Americas is there too in the coco and embolada – improvised challenge singing in rhyme that has been there since the sixteenth century. This slide show is part of the extra features of the DVD.
Anyways enjoy and share and as always…
Turn it up…
